Your child’s first day of daycare is an exciting milestone—and having the right items packed will help it go smoothly for you and your little one. To make the transition easier, here’s a simple checklist of essentials to send on day one (click the links to see some of our favorites!):
1. Silicone Bibs Easy to clean and perfect for messy meals, silicone bibs help keep your child comfortable and dry throughout the day.
2. Extra Clothes Spills, art projects, and outdoor play can get a little messy. Pack at least one full extra outfit—shirt, pants, socks, and underwear if age-appropriate.
3. Extra Bibs For younger children, having backup bibs is always helpful for feedings, drool, or snacks.
4. Pacifiers If your child uses a pacifier, send a couple extras in a labeled container. Daycare days can be exciting (and sometimes overwhelming), so pacifiers can bring comfort.
5. Diapers & Wipes Provide enough diapers and wipes for the full day, plus a few extras. Many parents also leave a small stock at the center to make mornings easier.
6. Diaper Cream A gentle diaper cream ensures your child stays comfortable and protected during routine diaper changes.
7. Sleep Sack For nap time, most centers ask for a labeled sleep sack. It keeps your child cozy and safe while allowing staff to maintain proper sleep practices.
With these items packed and labeled, your child will be ready for a happy and comfortable first day. And remember—daycare teachers are there to support both you and your little one every step of the way!
